The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) took effect in the UK from 25 May 2018 and the Church must comply with its requirements, just like any other charity or organisation.

Depending on your role, there are five courses to choose from:

  • GDPR Refresher Training £25  £10
  • This course gives you a refresher on the three main topics of GDPR - responsibilities, data protection and individual rights.
  • Core (level 1) £25  £10
    This basic level is appropriate for many people. It involves completing three modules that will take around 30 minutes each to complete.

  • Marketer (level 2) £175  £10
    Ideal for anyone tasked with executing policies and demonstrating data protection best practice.

  • Foundation (level 3) £195  £10
    This level is for senior staff such as Heads of Departments and/or those who carry out Subject Access requests.

  • Practitioner (level 4) £395  £10
    A comprehensive package for the GDPR lead responsible for compliance in your organisation.

  • GDPR Board Training £25  £10
    An introduction for business leaders who need to know the strategic principles of GDPR.

What equipment will I need?

You’ll need a desktop or laptop device with internet access to run courses that you’ve purchased through Me Learning. The recommended browser is Google Chrome, or alternatively Mozilla Firefox / Internet Explorer 11 or later.

The course has audio commentary, so speakers or headphones will be required, but if you prefer you can mute the audio and follow the text. Please note that some of the supplementary videos do not have subtitles. 

How long do the courses take?

The courses vary in length but the training is modular so can be completed in manageable chunks. You can come back to it where you left off. 

Core 90 minutes
Marketer 3 hours
Foundation 3 hours 30 minutes
Practitioner 5 hours
Board Training 90 minutes

How do I get access to my training?

Once you have purchased a course, you will receive a confirmation email letting you know you are being set up on the system.  You will then be sent a welcome email with your log-in details – this should only take a few minutes to reach you unless you have purchased the course over the weekend.  If you wish to access the training over a weekend, please purchase the course by Thursday. 

You will be asked to change your password at first log-in. The password rules are:

  • Must be at least 8 characters
  • Must include at least one capital letter
  • Must include at least one number
  • Must include at least one special character

If you select an incorrect password you will be prompted to change it.
