LED lighting at St Cuthbert's

Constructed in 1558, St Cuthbert’s Church is a beautiful historic church that serves the leafy village of Ackworth in the West Riding of Yorkshire, close to Wakefield. In January 2018, they made use of the Parish Buying LED lighting discounts to replace all the bulbs in their church building with LEDs.

As an important place of heritage, culture and spirituality, it was essential for LEDHut to approach the project in a sympathetic and flexible manner and to provide an installation that did not look like a retrofit to the building. To keep the integrity of the church’s features, LED Hut created a bespoke lighting solution.

Slim-line SMD Floodlights were used in place of bulky and cumbersome halide lighting, along with energy efficient PAR 38 LED spotlights. The floodlights in both the main chapel and the church tower were removed and re-positioned. The result is a low-maintenance lighting solution which showcases the wonderful building.

'Based on the projections we were given, we are looking forward to saving money on our energy bills.'
Julie Davis, Church Warden.

The parish has a second church which they are hoping to re-order completely over the next few years, including replacing the lights with LEDs.
